The Mekong River is one of the longest rivers in the world, stretching from China all the way through numerous countries of Southeast Asia. The river serves as a crucial waterway for agriculture, fishing, and transportation.
The river supports one of the largest inland fisheries globally, contributing significantly to the region's food security and economy. It currently sees a significant amount of investment in infrastructures (dams, property, technological agribusiness) by neighboring regions, which may pose significant environmental, and otherwise, risks for the area.
The Indochina region shall be defined in its broader scope in this debate: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand.
